How does 3D printing work at MFPL?

STEP 1: Find, create, or remix your own digital design.

There are many file-sharing sites packed with pre-made creations from around the globe. Just download a file you like and you are ready to go. Some of the most popular sites include: ThingiverseYouMagineMyMiniFactory3DShook, and PinShape just to name a few. If you’d like to tackle making your own design from scratch, try the free online designer TinkerCAD.

STEP 2: Read and follow our Makerspace policy and 3D printing badging process

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with our Makerspace Policy and our badging process.

STEP 3: Make an appointment with our 3D Printing experts to get badged and begin your project.

STEP 4: Pay for your printed object.

All makers must be trained before using our 3D printer. This process is called badging.

  1. Read Adventurer 3 User Guide (PDF)
  2. Watch operational video (https://www.flashforge.com/video/29)
  3. Create or develop design on one of the above-listed websites. Download to a jump drive or bring it in on your own device.
  4. Make an appointment with a 3D printing expert to verify your knowledge and get started! Call 262-532-8920 or send us an email to make your badging appointment.

For a different 3D printing experience that does not require badging, ask about our 3D Printing Pens.

Reserving the Printer

Once you have been badged, you may reserve time on the printer. Reservations must be approved by staff, and must be made at least two business days in advance.
