What is it?
Create an original piece of art inspired by a video game, comic book, graphic novel, TV show, or movie. Entries can be made from any medium and may be 2D (e.g., drawing, painting, collage) or 3D (sculpture). There is a limit of ONE entry per person.
Who may enter?
Anyone! Entries will be judged in the following age categories:
- Preschool (0-5)
- Children (6-12)
- Teen (13-17)
- Adult (18+)
When can I enter?
Entries will be accepted at the Children’s Desk during regular Library hours, beginning at 9:00 AM on Monday, September 10, and ending Saturday, September 29, at 5:00 PM. An official and completed art contest entry form must accompany your submitted artwork. Entry forms are available at the Children’s Desk. Children and teens under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the entry form.
What will happen to my art?
How will my art be judged?
A panel of judges will critique each work on technical skill, originality, quality, and overall impression. Prize winners will be selected in each age group. You do not have to be present to win. The judges’ decision is final. There will also be voting by Library patrons and Comic Fest attendees for a Fan Favorite. Winners will be announced during the Comic Fest on Saturday, October 13.
Can I get my artwork back afterwards?
Yes! You may pick up your artwork at the Youth Desk starting at 9:00 AM on Thursday, November 1. All artwork MUST be claimed by 9:00 PM on Monday November 12.
General rules and guidelines
- Artists should follow all legal restrictions of copyright and fair use.
- Entries should depict art that is appropriate for public consumption, understanding that people of all ages will be viewing this exhibit. Library staff will have the ultimate say in what can or cannot be displayed.
- This is a display that will be open to the public. The Library cannot take responsibility for any damages that may occur during the art contest, nor can it offer compensation for damages or theft/loss of artwork.
