Menmonee Falls Public Library

We want everyone to feel safe checking out materials from our Library. However, we cannot guarantee that every item will be free of germs. We do not sanitize or quarantine our materials.

If you are worried about contamination, the latest research suggests that you wait 72 – 96 hours before touching library materials, a similar practice some use when bringing home grocery items. Please remember to wash your hands with soap and water often!

  1. This is disappointing. I thought I had read you were quarantining materials. Is this consistent with ALA and CDC guidelines?

    1. Teresa, Thank you very much for your concern. By further increasing our services available to patrons including browsing the collections, we are limited to how much we can guarantee virus-free items. The items may very well go through many people’s hands before being borrowed by a patron. Due to this, we are urging patrons to consider self-quarantining Library materials, much like groceries, in order to decrease chances of coming into contact with COVID-19. If you have any further questions please reach out to the Library Director at (262) 532-8931. Thank you again. We hope to see you soon.

  2. For library materials that circulate for one week, such as DVD’s have you considered extending the loan time. If we shouldn’t touch them for 72 to 96 hours that considerably shortens the time we can view them or read them.
