Loan Limits

The total number of physical checkouts allowed per card at any given time is 250.

Loan Periods

The loan period for most items is three weeks with the following exceptions:

  • Book Club Kits: 6 week checkout
  • WiFi Hotspots: 1 week checkout
  • DVDs and Blu-Rays under 5 hours: 1 week checkout
  • Most Library of Things items circulate for 1 week. Some special items circulate for 3 weeks.
  • Tonies and Tonie Boxes: 1 week
  • Explore Passes: 3 day checkout

Renewals

Most items can be renewed up to 3 times for the length of the original lending period. If a patron needs the item longer and cannot renew the item, they may place a hold on the item. A patron may not check out the item immediately after returning it.

Renewals can be done online, through the mobile app, by telephone, by email, or in person.  If the item is overdue at the time of the renewal, the overdue charge will be automatically added to the patron’s account. Items are renewed from the date of renewal, not from the original due date.

There is no grace period.

Items that may not be renewed are:

  • Items with holds
  • Items previously renewed three times
  • Items in the Lucky Day Collection
  • Explore Passes
  • Select Library of Things items

Holds

There is a limit of 100 holds on physical items at any given time on a patron’s account. Holds may only be checked out on the card on which the hold was placed. No charge is incurred for holds.

Items can be placed on hold online, by telephone, by email, or in person. When items are available for pickup, patrons will be notified by email, phone, or text message based on the preferences selected. Preferences can be set by contacting the Library, or by logging into the account online. If an item is not claimed on or before the date designated on the notice, it will be offered to the next person on the hold list or returned to the shelf or owning Library. Patrons can suspend active hold requests or cancel a hold if they no longer need or will not have time for an item. Items that are currently being held cannot be cancelled by the patron and the Library should be contacted to cancel these holds.

Lucky Day Collection

The Lucky Day collection contains additional copies of some of the most popular items in the Library’s general collection. 2 Lucky Day items may be checked out at one time. There are no holds on Lucky Day items.

Items from this collection are available on a first come, first served basis only.

Explore Pass Collection

Explore Passes provide access to local area attractions. Patrons may borrow one Explore Pass per card at a time.

Items from this collection are available on a first come, first served basis only and are not holdable.
