Spring into Savings: Celebrate Financial Literacy Month at the Library!

A home built as a savings bank, representative of Financial Literacy Month!

April is National Financial Literacy Month, the perfect time to “spring clean” your finances and build a stronger foundation for your future. Whether you are dreaming of your first home, teaching your kids the value of a dollar, or helping your teen navigate their first bank account, we have an event for you.

Join us at the library this April for three exciting, hands-on programs designed to empower every member of the family.

Mortgage Basics

Thursday, April 2 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM (Community Room)

Thinking about buying your first home or wondering what it takes to get there? Join experts from BMO Menomonee Falls for an essential guide to homeownership and renting. This presentation will walk you through starting your home-buying journey, discovering down payment assistance programs, and what it truly means to be a homeowner.

You’ll leave with tangible resources and the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one consultation to discuss your specific goals.

Money Smart Kids

Tuesday, April 7 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Children’s Program Room)

This programs registration limit filled up faster than expected, but we’re interested in offering more like it in the future!  Take a look at the description and let us know what you think.

It’s never too early to become “Money Smart!” This hands-on learning experience for ages 6 – 12 turns financial education into a blast. Kids will enjoy interactive money games and activities, decorate their own coin bank, and receive a free copy of What Can I Buy? by Julie Moriarity (made possible by the Department of Financial Institutions and 2026 Money Smart Wisconsin Big Read).

Financial Literacy 101

Monday, April 27 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Community Room)

Rounding out the month, we’re hosting an interactive workshop for ages 10 – 18 (and their adults!). Presented in collaboration with Bank Five Nine, this session covers the “must-know” basics like how to budget and the power of a savings account while enjoying snacks and winning prizes!

Financial literacy is a superpower that lasts a lifetime. We can’t wait to see you at the library this April to take these first steps together!
