Last year, the CoLab converted two group study rooms into updated, reservable spaces with access to whiteboards, more comfortable seating, and Samsung Smart TV monitors. One of the overarching goals was to further enhance collaboration, both virtually and in the Library between individuals and small groups. In that very same spirit, the Library now offers two reservable CoLab Laptops for use in the Library!
Think of it as the CoLab on the Go! Where collaboration can happen in the CoLab or in the building beyond those orange and blue walls.
All you need is a valid Cafe Library Card. It’s your ticket to what can feel like unlimited resources: everything in our Cafe Catalog, our Digital Resources, Forge Equipment, and access to the CoLabs and brand new Laptops.
The CoLab
Maybe the best thing about our CoLabs is that they can be reserved up to two weeks in advance.
In the last nine months, it’s created a reliable space for study groups, work meetings, and community organizations. It’s been reserved for classroom instruction, by professionals such as Social Workers, Coaches, and Tutors. It’s been used for everything from Table Top Games to Job Interviews and online Exams.
The CoLab consists of CoLab A and CoLab B. Each can be reserved up to two times per week and for up to three hours at a time. There isn’t a week that goes by when a group isn’t huddled around the Smart TV’s. If you need a reliable space, whether it be for one person or to collaborate in person with clients or colleagues, then consider reserving one of our CoLabs. When needed, you can even reserve a Laptop.
CoLab on the Go: Laptops
A question that’s often asked is “Do you have a Laptop I can use?” Sometimes it’s for a virtual Job Interview when a webcam is required. Other times it’s because of computer trouble, or maybe an extra screen could help collaboration within a group. It’s been asked to increase concentration by creating space away from the Public PC’s.
No matter the reason, we’re excited to offer two reservable Laptops for use in the Library building. Just like the CoLab spaces, the CoLab Laptops can be reserved up to two weeks in advance, two times per week, and for up to three hours at a time.
If you need a Laptop during a CoLab reservation, just make sure to reserve a CoLab space and a CoLab Laptop separately. Reserving one does not reserve the other.
