Books and Materials Donations

Menomonee Falls Public Library is grateful to persons who give new or gently used odor and mold-free materials to the library. The Library accepts books, DVDs, Blu-Rays, music CDs, and books on CD.   Encyclopedias published in the last three years are also accepted.  We no longer accept VHS tapes, textbooks or magazines.

What happens to donated materials?

Gift materials have significantly enriched our collections. Your donations help add new titles to the collection, provide multiple copies of in-demand materials, or replace materials that have been lost and/or damaged. If we are unable to use donated materials, we will put them in the book sale or recycle them.  We have an on-going sale in our lobby and semi-annual book sales in Spring and Fall. Please check our calendar for specific dates.

Where can I donate materials?

To donate materials, bring them to the Library’s circulation desk during regular hoursPLEASE: Do not put donations in the book drop. If you have a large number of items to donate, please call ahead (262-532-8900) and we can provide a cart for transporting items from your vehicle.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Donations to the library may be tax deductible; please check with your tax advisor. Please ask for a tax receipt at the time of donation. You are responsible for assessing the value to your donation. For more information about valuing old books, see Your Old Books, courtesy of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the Collage and Research Libraries, a division of the American Library Association.
