Summer is officially here! Your Menomonee Falls Public Library is ready with events, activities, and special items ready to delight community members of all ages. Here are six great ideas to get your summer off to a “rawr-some” start!
1. “Unearth a Story” at Your Library
Your library is embarking on a dinosaur adventure! This year’s Summer Library Program is “Unearth a Story,” and the library is exploring dinosaurs, archeology, and paleontology all summer long.
From a visit from Archeologist Abby, to Dino Day, to a Rompin’ Stompin’ Dino Dance Party, we hope you are ready to unearth a T-rex-traordinary summer at your library.
2. Whip Up a Sweet Treat
Did you know that your library has a Library of Things? You can borrow different items such as special tools, board games, and even small appliances like an ice cream maker?
That’s right – there’s a Cuisinart ice cream maker available to borrow. Which means you are just one checkout away from being able to make ice cream or frozen yogurt in twenty minutes or less!
3. Hunt for Friendly Bigfoots
The Bridges Library System is inviting visitors to explore all 24 libraries in Waukesha and Jefferson Counties this summer during Tracks in the Stacks: Bigfoot Hunt.
Pick up a Bigfoot map at any Bridges library to start exploring. Once a Bigfoot is found, players add stamps and record the name on their map. The more libraries you visit, the more chances you have to win one of twelve $50 gift cards.
4. Shine at the KPop Demon Hunters Party
We are having a party inspired by your favorite idols! Drop by to help us strengthen the Honmoon with KPop crafts, dancing, and games. The KPop Demon Hunters Party is Monday, July 6 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM.
For more information about this and other exciting summer events, check out the library’s event calendar.
5. Read Wherever You Go
Warmer weather makes summer the perfect time to enjoy a book outdoors. Whether you’re taking a book to the beach or park, listening to an audiobook on a road trip, or finding a new favorite picture book at Outdoor Storytime, there’s nothing like a new story to fill up the long summer days.
Summer is also a wonderful time to start or add to your progress on our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten or 500 Books Before Middle School reading programs.
6. Touch a Truck
Summer at the library would not be complete without Truck Day!
A variety of trucks belonging to different Menomonee Falls community workers will be stationed in the loop outside the Library parking lot on the morning of Friday, August 14, ready for you to tour and explore.
