With all this cold and snow, your Library has the perfect way to cozy up, read a book, and win some awesome prizes, our Winter Reading Challenge!
It runs from December 15 – January 24. It’s designed for readers of all ages. It’s easy to sign up, either online or by using the Beanstack Tracker app. The big difference this year from previous years is we’re challenging you to log the total amount of days you read, rather than your reading minutes.
Along the way, you’ll earn tickets to enter into a grand prize drawing at the end. There’s a little bit of fun for everyone, no matter your age or reading level.
Format
That’s right, this year we’re asking you to log the amount of days you read, rather than your reading minutes.
The hope is to grow and encourage the habit of reading, whether that means a 20-minute reading sprint, or an hours long marathon that ends with the final page of a current bestseller.
The program lasts for 40 days. We’re asking you to read 25 days to complete the challenge. But even if you don’t finish, there’s ways to earn tickets at every step of the way. Here’s how:
Every 5 days of reading up to 20 days: 2 Tickets
Complete the challenge, log 25 days of reading: 4 Tickets
Go above and beyond, log 30 and 35 days of reading: 4 Tickets
Be a perfectionist, log all 40 days of reading: 8 Tickets!
The Prizes, Our Community Donors
Similar to summer, there’s a bunch of awesome prizes you can win. These range from a Retro Mini Speaker, Munchkin Bundle, and Montessori Busy Board, to a 360° Puzzle Board and Soft Owl Candle Making Kit sponsored by our Menomonee Falls Library Friends (thank you for all you do!).
In addition, our challenge wouldn’t have come together without a generous assortment of prizes and donations from several community partners:
Local Business Baskets and Passes
The Picklr: Free Day Passes
Latitude Cafe (located on the second floor of our Library): A basket full of assorted cofees, teas, mugs, a blanket, and more.
Poppy & Thyme: A basket full of lavender soaps, perfumes, candles, and more.
Tri County YMCA: A basket featuring a one-month free household membership, a 12-week fitness plan, one free youth program, two free InBody scans, and various YMCA apparel items.
Youth Coupons and Passes
Culver’s (Menomonee Falls)
ATC Energy (Discovery World)
Feld Entertainment (Disney on Ice and Monster Jam)
Kwik Trip
Schlitz Audubon Nature Center
Sky Zone (Brown Deer)
It means a lot to receive this kind of support. Please consider visiting and supporting these local businesses, along with those who contributed during our program this past summer, who have done so much to give back and make our reading programs so great!
Ready to Sign Up?
We hope so! Remember, you can sign up and start logging the days you read starting December 15. You can sign up online or by downloading the Beanstack Tracker app.
We’ve accomplished a lot this year. Your Library now has Open Holds, two brand new collaborative, reservable workspaces called the CoLab, and an all-new StoryWalk® generously provided by Carol McGibany and sustained by the Menomonee Falls Library Friends.
But as one-year ends and another begins, we hope to grow a bit more by encouraging the habit of reading. Sign up for our Winter Reading Program today! You never know what world awaits inside the cover of a book.
